LAVO | Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar in Singapore | Takeaway

We wanted to try the pizza and pasta at Lavo in Marina Bay Sands during our staycation. It was hard to book seats though, but we found out you can order takeaway if you're a guest at the hotel. We ordered early and got our food in just an hour.

We just got pizza and pasta. Got the carne pizza and rigatoni melanzana. Sweetie liked both the pizza and pasta, but I found the pizza a bit too salty. I ended up just picking on the prosciutto hehe.

After our swim we passed by Lavo. By 9pm it's quite quiet and you can probably grab a seat already by that time. That's what their staff told us when we inquired about booking a seat. We're glad though we found out about the takeaway option when we were browsing through the hotel resto pages.

Maybe next time we'll try to reserve early and get a sit in the restaurant. What about you? Have you tried Lavo?

Spago by Wolfgang Puck at Marina Bay Sands

We started our gastronimic staycation at Marina Bay Sands by dining at Spago for dinner. Spago is a restaurant by multi-awarded chef Wolfgang Puck. I just read that Spago was awarded 2 Michelin stars.

If you're staying at Marina Bay Sands, it would be useful if you book the restaurants you plan to dine at ahead of time. We didn't, but luckily we managed to get an outdoor seat. We actually preferred to eat outdoors since it's safer.

We were greeted enthusiastically by the staff and we were ushered to our poolside view seats. It was sunset and there was a nice breeze. We settled in our seats and ordered our food.

For our starters we shared a plate of burrata with confit kumquats. It wasn't what we expected, but it tasted soooo good. We also super loved the parmesan crisp (? sorry forgot the exact name). It was unexpected.

We chose one meat and one fish dish for our mains. We just had to try the grilled USDA prime sirloin steak. It's been awhile since we had steak. The steak was perfect. It was juicy, had the perfect amount of fat, and nice lukewarm. My mouth is watering thinking about it again.

We ordered the honey miso broiled Japanese black cod to try fish. This is the dish I'm definitely going to order again. It's now one of my favorite dishes in the whole wide world. I could have gobbled up the whole plate by myself. There will always be a next time.

Overall we were super happy with our experience. We've dined at two other Wolfgang Puck restos, one in Tokyo and at Changi Airport. Spago though is the place to visit. I think we'll make it one of our celebration places from now own.

Singapore's Gardens by the Bay

When Jay visited a few months ago we checked out Gardens by the Bay to see if it would be a place my Mom would like to visit. We just hopped on the shuttle to see the whole property since I wanted to conserve energy because we were planning to go to IKEA after (haha). The park was still pretty new during that time and the conservatory was closed that day so the experience was like walking around my Mom's garden. We'll likely go back when my Mom comes for a visit.

The Resorts World Sentosa Experience

Nope, I did not go to the casino since I was there for the Google Geo Summit. I was there for work, but the Resorts World Sentosa experience was nonetheless awesome. The first thing that greeted me when I arrived was this rendition of Adam & Eve at the lobby of Hotel Michael Singapore. It's cute!

My room wasn't ready yet so I decided to explore the area a bit and I chanced upon a statue of The Thinker and the Lake of Dreams.

The weather was so hot and humid so I didn't stay out for long. After having some lunch I went to Hard Rock Hotel for a staff meeting. It was just a meet and greet so I had some time to freshen up at my hotel room.

And it was a blur of activities after that and I only got the chance to explore Resorts World more on the last evening. Walking around I saw a lot of shops selling branded items. I got a couple of souvenirs for my family at the Resorts World Sentosa shop and spent the rest of the night just walking around.

I made sure to drop by the Hershey's Store. There were chocolates everywhere!

It was a simple no gastos experience just walking around. I hope I'd be able to bring my boys here someday =)

Singapore River Cruise

I've been going back and forth to Singapore for almost a decade now, but never got the chance to explore it. In my last trip I finally got the chance to go on the Singapore River Cruise (thanks Google!). I was pretty please that I finally got to see some important landmarks up close, except the Merlion (yet again!) since it looked like it was under renovation (again!). Argh! Anyway, here's some of the pretty sites I saw during the cruise:

The Merlion

I'll tell you a secret.

The photo above? That's the closest I've been to the Merlion in Singapore.

Yup. Unbelievable noh. Considering the many number times I've gone to Singapore in the past 7 years.

I just never had the time. During our trip, Sweetie actually went to see the Merlion twice. He went back because his camera's memory card was corrupted and so he lost his photos. And me? Poor me didn't have the time again to go.

I did manage to see the one in Sentosa. Yay!
