Davao: Delongtes

I still could not stop giggling over the jingle of Delongtes which played over and over again when we dined their last weekend. It wasn't annoying mind you, but it was the first time that I heard a resto's whole menu being sung! Yup, you gotta hear it!

When I told Andrew that my friends and I wanted to eat inihaw he immediately suggested that we have lunch at Delongtes. I trust his judgment and so that's where we had lunch.

I had longganisa and pork barbecue -

The kinilaw was yummy too -

We all had to help my best friend finish the bottomless liempo she ordered -

And we also had durian shake for only PhP45.

Servings were generous and you'll already be filled-up with just PhP100.

Davao FAT2: Cafe Andessa

Awed.

I was awed with how much yummy food Cafe Andessa served us. I also believe the owners are kindred spirits from the Bicol region because of the many Bicol-inspired dishes that was served. I know I'm going to start blabbing, so let me share with you photos of the gastronomic delights that we sampled.

The Sinugba is a dish that's going to make you eat more (pampagana!). I loved how the vinegar mix  cooked the raw tuna.

Kamote is not just musical fruit, was served coated and with a sweet dip.

I'm not sure what this fish is called, but it was very tasty and definitely not oily.

Calamari, just couldn't get enough of it.

The binugtong (not sure if that's the right spelling) is something I am very familiar with because I always make sure I eat one whenever I visit Bicol. It's suman to the next level.

I'm not really sure what this dish was, but it was very tasty too.

I'm pretty sure no one else managed to taste this sweet pork dish except me and Juned. When it was placed in front of us we looked at each other and agreed that we were going to keep it all to ourselves. LOL

Bicol express pasta! I put myself to shame with this dish because I was only able to eat a couple of fork-fulls, it was really spicy! Spicy but definitely delicious.

Pork liempo, another dish that Juned and I kept to ourselves. LOL.

Laing, ahhh another Bicol staple food. Authentic!

Turon with ice cream. You'll definitely eat it even if you're already full.

Tokwa't baboy is one of my favorite food.

Sizzling squid.

I can't imagine how much food I ate that day. I'm not also sure which dish I'd call the superstar because everything was delicious. Hmm... hmm... no I really can't, but if there's one dish you should definitely try because it's unique, it's the Bicol Express Pasta. I don't think you'd find the same dish anywhere else.

Davao FAT2: Pepper & Peppers

I have to be honest, I was decidedly dazed when we went to dine at Pepper & Peppers. I must have left my brains at the Xcelerator Camp since I had just gotten engaged a few minutes before heading down for Pepper & Peppers. I barely remember getting in Drew's  SUV, picking up Juned, Maki and Manolo at Casa Leticia and finally getting myself in Pepper & Peppers. I do remember though that the owner is a very pretty lady! (So sorry I was on cloud 9 during lunch).

Pepper & Peppers superstar is the iberian chicken. I could only sniff the heavenly smell and keep myself from drooling all over the baked chicken, while I enviously watched my fiance, Jayvee, Fritz and Drew sample the chicken.  (I have unfortunately developed an allergy for chicken). If you plan to eat the iberian chicken better pre-order it 2 hours before going to the resto.

I absolutely loved the tender spare-ribs and I think that's what I ate the most while we were there (thanks to Drew who just kept putting `em on my plate!).

The fish fillet was also great (not so sure if that's what this is called) and it's very tasty.

I also found the krispy sisig very unusual.

Davao FAT2: Tadakuma Japanese Restaurant

This is the first of a series of posts I will be making about the recent Davao Food Appreciation Tour, fondly called the Davao FAT which was organized and sponsored by DavaoDeli.com and DavaoFoodie.com. I had so much fun during the pioneer run of the Davao FAT last year and I made sure I'd be there again this year (booked flights last December just to be sure!).

The first stop we went to was Tadakuma Japanese Restaurant. It was raining hard when we arrived and I was quite excited to start sampling the food.

We were served a lot of dishes and I was really envious that my friends managed to sample the california maki. I am unfortunately allergic to crab and I could just watch my friends with envy as they popped in one maki after another.

And since most of them ate a lot of maki I said that I would get a bigger share of the sashimi. As expected the raw tuna was fresh and not malansa.

There were many other dishes, but for me the superstars for the day were the Sukiyaki and the Atuyaki Tofu. The sukiyaki was heaven. It just had the right amount of herbs and spices and wasn't salty, the noodles too were al dente

The atuyaki tofi was a surprise. I've tried other tofu dishes and most of them were "disjointed", meaning the tofu and the dish weren't "one". The atuyaki tofu was cooked perfectly and I couldn't stop adding the sauce to my rice.

Can do without: the iced green tea, it was too bitter

The Lakwatsera's Rating: must have the Sukiyaki again!

Davao: Belly's Grill

When I was going through some old photos I saw some snaps I took at Belly's Grill in Davao. I remember going there with my Davao buddies who swore that the resto served the yummiest food around.

Baked Oysters

Bangus

Kinilaw (really fresh!)

Another kind of yummy fish (forgot the name)

And they were right!

Breakfast at Bryan's

For this trip to Davao I decided to try something new. I booked a room at Arturo's Bed & Dine. I took note of the place when we visited Bryan's Bar & Grill last March for the Davao F.A.T. and the sumptuous food that was served was a definite lure for me to come back. I also thought trying out a "bed & dine" place was going to be a different experience.

Arturo's Bed & Dine only has a handful of rooms. I got the room with the terrace. The homey feel is what did me in (read: will do a definite come-back). We were also served tapsilog for breakfast.

And pandesal -

And then we also got some of the yummy Peppered Sashimi.

My Favorite Restaurant Lachi's

If I was to name one super-duper-favorite-to-the-maximum-levels restaurant, I'd say it's LACHI's.

Lachi's is located in Davao and is run by twins. I previously did a vlog about it when I attended the Davao F.A.T. (Food Appreciation Tour) and well since I LOVE LACHI's so much, here's another vlog about them and Kangaroo.

Kangaroo's a new coffee place in Davao. I was too stuffed though to try out their yummy pasta, but it's a place I'd definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

Fwendz Diner and Red Moon (Davao)

Davao has a lot of great places to dine in and my dear friend, Blogie, features a lot of these in his food blog.

I love going to Davao (and wish that's where I live) and I always gain at least 3 to 4 pounds whenever I visit. Last weekend I had the chance to see a bit of Davao before heading back home to Manila.

Fwendz Diner, Tope, founder of fwendz.com brought his passion for social networking offline and opened up this cool resto frequented by students and a number of oldies. The place is now known to be where IT people of Davao hang-out. Food's great too. The night I was there I hung-out with Ted Padova (Adobe evangelizer), The Usual Suspects, Blogie, Migs, Winston and Jun, and Rodney.

That's me with Fwendz Diner founder, Tope

Baby Back Ribs for just PhP99.00.

Quesadilla (uber hot, let's wait for Migs to upload the video he took)

On Saturday evening we wanted to try out something new and ended up at Red Moon Chinese Cuisines and Delicacies. With me were Andrew, Migs, Ria and Blogie.

Red Moon, Ria and Migs, me and Andrew

Oyster Omelet

Sweet and Sour Pork

Honey Spring Chicken

Now you know why I want to live in Davao. =)
